Worked as a sweat equity partner to create a budget friendly space, with a community feel.
All of the existing block walls were exposed, cleaned, and painted white, to give the space a slight hint of industry, but maintain simplicity.
The ceiling trellis was fabricated from Reclaimed NYC Scaffolding slats, to bring the “familiar” inside.
The tables were fabricated from 3/16” Steel bar, creating a simple, and clean leg detail.
Shelving was created through out the space using black pipe, and Reclaimed NYC Scaffolding. Keeping with a very strict budget, this allowed us to showcase rotating retail roasters, as well as merchandise in the space.

Astoria Coffee - Logo
This logo is designed to be both a piece of artwork on the wall and showcase the branding of the cafe. It can be seen from any spot in the cafe, and becomes a backdrop for social media photos, and creates marketing opportunities.

Bar - Overview
Bar top is made of butcher block and is designed to be completely uninterrupted. Customers can sit at the bar, and converse with their barista while enjoying their pour overs.
Bar fascia is a large white beveled subway tile, and gray grout, staggered, to create a classic yet timeless base for the butcher block.
Ceiling plane is designed using scaffold planks, to create a terrace feeling, and mask the exposed HVAC above.

Bar - Front
Horizontal architectural beam created the perfect area for a menu board, leaving all of the exposed block walls behind natural but white washed.
Shelving utilizes the same scaffold boards as the ceiling, bringing the material and texture to the customers level.
